How Banbury Cookery School was born!
Ilja Harvey studied and qualified in Catering at the North Oxfordshire College before going on to work as a Chef and then Executive Chef for two Pub/Restaurants.
She created the Cookery School one afternoon, after cooking with her children and some of their friends. The parents suggested that she should do it as a profession.
Having done several different types of children’s parties and adult dinner parties, for either her own kids or for friends, She thought it could be a great idea.
After a lot of research and ground work to ensure that the premises and equipment were up to scratch and all legalities were covered, Ilja launched the business!
Due to a huge demand for our services in 2010 we found the perfect premises to open our very own purpose built teaching kitchens and meeting venue, as a result we have expanded our team and are now able to offer all of our services within our own venue.
With a lot of her time being taken up with local TV, radio, writing for food columns and running Little Amsterdam, we started to expand the Banbury Cookery School team, as a result of this, we now have staff that can cover many areas of the UK. Pudding Pie Cookery School was born, and is now known as Banbury Cookery School following our move in late 2014 from Middleton Cheney to Banbury town centre.
All our team have the required Food Safety and Hygiene Certificates, £5m Public Liability Insurance, St Johns Ambulance Emergency First Aid at Work Certificates, plus the relevant Enhanced CRB checks.
We welcome any feedback about our services and would love to hear your comments.
